Jackie Baker for PA State Senate

20th District – Including All of Pike County, PA

Jackie Baker serves as a precinct committee person for the Susquehanna County Democratic Committee and is a founding member of the PA Coalition for Trans Youth. She’s also a former public-school teacher with 15 years of experience in the classroom.

Jackie has been active with organizations including Indivisible NEPA, MoveOn, Action Together NEPA, Hub for Progress, Our Revolution PA, Fair Districts PA, the Wyoming County Democratic Women’s Society, and the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women.

She’s running to expand access to affordable healthcare, including increased funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and stronger support for mental health, substance use treatment, child welfare, homelessness services, and intellectual disability block grants. Jackie backs reforms to nursing home care, including higher CNA and LPN staffing levels, and advocates for reproductive rights and access to family planning services.

She also supports economic reforms that help working families, including raising the minimum wage (and ending sub-minimum wages), legalizing marijuana, and reforming the tax code; raising the corporate tax rate, reducing property taxes for working families and people on fixed incomes, passing a fair share tax, and closing the Delaware loophole so corporations pay what they owe.

On education, Jackie calls for fully funding public schools and career/technical and secondary education programs. She supports free lunch for public school students, universal childcare, and Pre-K.

Jackie is focused on strengthening rural infrastructure, like broadband, water treatment plants, the electrical grid, roads and bridges, while supporting small businesses. She also supports protecting the environment by passing a severance tax on oil and natural gas, cleaning pollutants like lead from our waterways, and accelerating the transition to renewable energy.

Jackie is committed to protecting voting rights, ending gerrymandering, and passing campaign finance reform. She also supports expanding affordable housing and homelessness programs, increasing SNAP eligibility so more families can qualify, removing barriers in TANF to support education and training, banning LGBTQ discrimination, supporting veterans, and combating the opioid crisis.
