Robin Skibber for the PA House 139th District Assembly
Robin Schooley Skibber recently retired from the Pike County Area on Aging where she served as Director for 22 years and is a registered dietitian. She is seeking the seat of the 139th PA House of Representatives.
Born in and raised in Pike County, Robin’s parents, Frank and Midge Schooley owned and operated the Mountain Merchant Country Store in Blooming Grove. Her dad, a flight engineer for commercial airlines, commuted to JFK for many years as Midge ran the store. Robin has two sisters and a brother, who died during the Covid pandemic. They were all raised in an environment where community, care and concern were normal.
Robin attended K-12 in the Wallenpaupack Area School District (in the 139th district) and went on to Penn State University first at Berks campus and then to University Park. Graduating in 1986, she returned to Pike County and pursued her education in nutrition and dietetics. She wanted to make a difference in people’s health.
When the opportunity to work in local community nutrition and long-term care services at the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Pike County, Robin was ready.
The Area Agency on Aging provides a myriad of services and supports those in need to help promote health, wellness, nutrition, personal care, protection from abuse and neglect, and to also provide information and assistance to many of Pennsylvania’s programs including housing, transportation, heating, and home modifications.
Robin participates in several volunteer organizations. She is President of the Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary (2010-present), as Chairperson of the Carbon, Pike and Monroe Drug and Alcohol Board (2005-2008), Coach at the Wallenpaupack Youth Soccer League (2006-2012) and a board member of the Wayne and Pike Suicide Prevention Committee (2011-2014) and as a trained Dementia Friends Champion (2020-present).
Robin has recently been invited by Governor Shapiro to sit on the newly formed Pennsylvania Food Policy Committee.
Robin is an advocate for seniors, their protection, for people with disabilities. She supports women’s reproductive rights and access to affordable healthcare, including mental health services for all. Robin has worked with law enforcement agencies to support, educate, and protect older people.
Robin lives in Blooming Grove Township with her husband, Robert Skibber, who recently retired after teaching special education in the Delaware Valley School District (Pike County) for 28 years. She has two children, Rose and Jack, who are both avid music and nature lovers.
